Dr. Giorgos Georgiou
Group Leader, Associate Professor · joined Jan 2021 · giorgos.georgiou@glasgow.ac.uk
Giorgos is an Associate Professor in Electronic and Nanoscale Engineering at the University of Glasgow, where he has been since 2021. He works on semiconductor quantum technologies, nanoelectronics, high-frequency electronics and optoelectronics, THz technology, photonics and ultrafast optics.
He leads the lab for Ultrafast Quantum Terahertz Nanoelectronics (ultraQUTE). The group's research focuses on semiconductor qubits at very high frequencies and higher temperatures (4 K), on integrating and scaling quantum systems with high-frequency THz electronics and optoelectronics through on-chip photonic packaging, and on how fundamental particles interact at ultrafast time scales in condensed matter systems.
He is a Royal Society of Edinburgh research Fellow, with funding as PI from UKRI EPSRC, the European Innovation Council, the University of Glasgow, the Scottish Government and the RSE. He holds 3 patents on THz optoelectronic devices.
